Excitement in St Moritz

On our second day in St Moritz, our sleepy, quiet road was transformed into a hub of bustle when an enormous cherry picker and associated vans and workmen descended on us. Blocking the road completely, with the big diesel engine noise competing with the workmen in the chaos that ensued. There were workmen, drivers, photographers and even a videographer along with a lot of bemused tourists with raised iPhones capturing the sight.

Noise

Noise

There is so much noise in the world today that it’s hard to hear anything. How do you filter out the rage bating from the inspiring? From hundreds of desperate people applying for a poorly paid job, to thousands of photographers vying for your attention - there are so many people in the world today that it’s virtually impossible to stand out as an individual.

I don’t have the answers but I know what makes me happy. Doing things for the sake of doing them, not for the likes and the dopamine hit. Taking an image that I want to take, one that’s been on my list for ages, one that no one else understands. This is one such image. It’s just a wall but it caught my eye recently on a local walk in the sunshine. I love the patterns, the shadows, the fact that I didn’t take it perfectly. Made by a human not by a machine. Go find what makes you happy, brings a smile to your face and fills your heart.

Serendipity

Last night, lying in bed, I realised I’d stopped listening to music recently. I used to love going down a rabbit hole of musical discovery following different artists of similar genres and finding new gems to add to my library. I had to stop my subscription and gradually had stopped listening to the music I’d purchased.

So, this morning I thought I’d purchase one of my favourite albums from Ludovico Einaudi that I hadn’t listened to in at least a year. I opened Apple Music only to discover, I had a three month free trial just sitting there waiting for me. Bingo! Now I’m listening to a new Ludovico album that has made me cry, given me goosebumps and made me super happy just to be alive.
