I'm Julia Revitt, a photographer and VERO ambassador sharing documentary stories here with highlights on VERO. I love travel, coffee and my Leica Q.
I developed a serious interest in photography in 2012 during an extended stay in Chamonix Mont-Blanc, France. The allure of those majestic mountains was too much to resist and I spent many an hour learning the art of photography.
After working my way through the usual route of film and DSLR cameras, I spent some time with a Leica camera, which compelled me to sell all my camera gear and buy a used Leica Q from eBay. It’s still my only camera.
I am also the principle photographer for SUPER ALPINE - a project creating books that explore the alpine landscapes and lifestyle.
I created a photography course with Highbrow for beginners called Improving your photography skills. Delivered to subscribers inboxes every day for 10 days, this course has proved very popular with 15k students so far.
I joined VERO in 2017 having become disillusioned with the follow, unfollow game on Instagram. VERO soon felt like home. I love the fact you are interacting with real people, so much so that I decided to promote black and white photography on the platform - starting the Monochrome Monday hashtag #momo.
In December 2022 I was approached by VERO to become an ambassador for the platform, promoting VERO for photography
I started Monochrome Monday in 2017 with a small group of people posting black and white photographs. This became quite popular on the platform and in 2020 together with VERO we produced a book celebrating the fantastic artists who had contributed to it in the past year.
The book was featured in British GQ magazine and we sold all the copies within a few days.
It's wonderful to see how popular Monochrome Monday has become since we created it. For me #momo is a chance to edit an old image or create a brand new one, shot specifically for monochrome. It's amazing how different the world looks when you change your viewfinder to monochrome. I’m one person who does look forward to Monday!
